Tarpan Puja Seva What is
Tarpan is the vedic practice of satisfying ancestors, deities and sages through offerings of water, black sesame seeds and Kusha (sacred grass). The word "Tarpan" itself means "to satisfy".
Tarpan performed on the sacred banks of the Phalgu River at Gaya Ji holds special significance, as this river itself is regarded as sanctified and proven for ancestral Tarpan.
The Special Importance of Tarpan on the Phalgu River
According to legend, the Phalgu River carries the blessing of Mother Sita, who, in Lord Rama's absence, herself performed the Tarpan of King Dasharatha on its banks. Since then, this river has been regarded as the holiest site for ancestral Tarpan.
