Tripindi Shradh is a special and comprehensive Shradh procedure in which Pind Daan and Tarpan are performed together for three generations of ancestors — father, grandfather and great-grandfather (and the corresponding three generations on the maternal side).
This ritual is performed especially when a family has not held regular Shradh for many years, or when there is a sense that the ancestors' satisfaction remains incomplete in some way.
According to scripture, if proper Shradh has not been performed in a family for several generations, the ancestors remain unsatisfied, which affects the family's progress and peace. Tripindi Shradh satisfies three generations at once, making up for this gap.
This special Shradh procedure at Gaya Ji is considered the most fruitful, as the ritual performed here reaches the ancestors of the entire family lineage.
A detailed resolution is taken including the names of three generations of the family.
Pind offerings are made in turn for all three generations.
A collective Tarpan is performed for the satisfaction of all ancestors.
